CMSP Gateway

The VAST solution integrates new alerting capability with the existing carrier infrastructure to support full CMAS compliance. The product is a unique built-for-purpose CMAS Service Provider (CMSP) Gateway solution that fits easily into existing networks and is reliable, extensible, scalable, and future-proof as CMAS continues to evolve.

It is suitable to deliver any form of content to all network-connected devices. VAST provides message aggregation, screening, formatting, and distribution via cell broadcast technology or traditional delivery methods such as SMS, voice, and IPTV. This enables the wireless carrier to monetize a mass notification and content solution today – and then seamlessly launch CMAS functionality when the market demands.

VAST delivers the first carrier grade, high capacity messaging system that provides a scalable framework for broadcast of messages or content. The system is capable of receiving input from a variety of sources including: CMAS Reference C Interface, CAP, XML, RSS, Web GUI, MM7, SMS, and Voice IVR. A common System Management layer ensures reliability, provides routing and policy management, and adheres to dynamic and static traffic throttling algorithms. The system then delivers aggregated content in accordance with policies defined by the end user and the network administrator.

The application functions as the CMSP Gateway as well as the Cell Broadcast Center (CBC), providing the key elements associated with the recommended specifications:

• C Interface interoperability (compliant with ATIS J-STD-101) to the FEMA aggregation gateway
• Message screening and formatting to validate the message integrity, prioritize the message, and format the messages for delivery to the end device
• Map the alert affected area to the carrier network. Translate the geographically targeted areas to network elements - including mobile switching center (MSC), radio network controller (RNC), base station controller (BSC), cell, cell sector and broadcast zones
• Manage and execute the regional distribution of the message over the network. The solution supports CBC capability for both GSM/UMTS (TS 23.041 & TS 25.419) and CDMA (IS-824 & IS-41) based carrier networks.
