In addition to the value of point-to-point messaging for targeted campaigns, the Velleros CBC capability allows for point-to-multipoint simultaneous delivery of messages within a specific broadcast area. In addition to supporting geographic targeting for alerts, this functionality can be leveraged by the carrier for commercial revenue-generating services.
The solution includes an administrative web portal for the broadcaster within a secured, partitioned, and controlled environment. Outside content providers or Cell Broadcast Entities (CBEs) can then be securely connected through the platform to be authenticated and screened prior to any messaging campaign. This not only protects the network but puts the carrier in the value chain for content delivery and contextual advertising. For example, advertising servers can connect to the platform for authentication, and the application screens the database based on criteria such as location, time-of-day, and subscriber profile, and in turn triggers a campaign to opt-in customers via an approved delivery method.
These services allow the carrier to tap into revenue available from advertisers, enterprises, and other interest groups that need to reach a specifically targeted area with a contextual real-time message. The broadcaster can configure multiple different target areas defined by broadcast zones that contain a group of cells or sectors within the carrier network. The revenue generated by these broadcasts can be in the form of paid monthly subscriptions or revenue-sharing between the carrier and the broadcasters.
Service providers can thus generate new service revenue utilizing the VAST Cell Broadcast functionality by delivering geographically targeted commercial broadcasts.
