Jay Whitehurst

Founder, Director, Chairman of the Board

Jay Whitehurst is a telecommunications industry veteran with over 25 years experience in General Management, Sales and Marketing, Business Development, Research and Development, Customer Service and Operations management. Jay is a Velleros founder and has served as a director and Chairman of the Velleros Board since the company’s formation in June, 2007. Prior to launching Velleros, Jay held executive management positions with Nortel Networks, Axes Technologies, Tekelec, and GENBAND. Since 2007, Jay has served as Senior Vice President, Products and Technology at Movius Interactive Corporation where he is responsible for Movius’ market leading messaging and integrated mobile media applications portfolios. Prior to joining Movius, Jay served as Chief Operating Officer at GENBAND, a leading carrier softswitch and media gateway provider, where he was responsible for the post acquisition integration of Tekelec’s Switching Solutions Group. Prior to joining GENBAND Jay served as President and General Manager for Tekelec’s Switching Solutions Group. Prior to joining Tekelec, Jay served as Executive Vice President, Sales, Marketing and Business Development for Axes Technologies, an India-based telecommunications software products and services company that was acquired by Mahindra British Telecom. Prior to Axes, Jay was with Nortel for 22 years where he served in a variety of senior executive roles including Executive Vice President of Wireless Operations and General Manager of the DMS family of products. Jay completed the Advanced Management Program at the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology from Appalachian State University..

Tom Gigliotti

Director, Outside Legal Counsel

Tom Gigliotti has over 22 years combined experience in engineering and corporate law. Tom has served as a director on the Velleros Board since November, 2007 and also supports the company as its outside legal counsel. Tom is founder and principal of Gigliotti Legal, his private practice focused on assisting technology companies with the legal issues they face in the day-to-day operation of their business. Prior to founding Gigliotti Legal, Tom served as general counsel for several of the multibillion dollar business units at Nortel where he also served as a Vice President of Intellectual Property. Before joining Nortel, Tom practiced as a lawyer with BakerBotts, LLP in Dallas, TX where he was a member of their intellectual property section. Both before and during attendance of law school Tom was a Senior Engineer at the Raytheon Company. Tom is well known for his talents in quickly negotiating mutually equitable business relationships while assuring his clients are properly protected from unnecessary legal and financial exposure. Among his many areas of experience, Tom has extensive knowledge and proven capabilities in intellectual property and commercial contracts law. Tom’s intellectual property experience enables him to anticipate nuances unique to commercial transactions involving technology along with providing guidance related to patent portfolios. Tom holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Clarkson University and a Juris Doctor degree from the New England School of Law. Tom is licensed in North Carolina, Texas, and Massachusetts and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Danny Parker

Director, President & CEO

Danny Parker is a telecommunications industry veteran with over 25 years of executive management experience covering Corporate Strategy, Mergers and Acquisitions, General Management, Marketing, Product Line Management, Business Development, Product Development, New Product Introduction, Customer Service and Operations management. Danny has served as a director on the Velleros Board since November 2007 and joined the Velleros management team as President and Chief Executive Officer on July 1, 2008. Prior to joining Velleros Danny was with Tekelec for 14 years where he led Tekelec’s strategic planning, business development and merger and acquisition activities as the Chief Strategy and Corporate Development Officer since October, 2000. In that role Danny was also responsible for Tekelec’s investments in emerging technology based private companies, and served as Tekelec’s representative on the boards of those companies, including BroadSoft, Santera, Telica and GENBAND. Prior to that, Danny held a variety of other executive management positions at Tekelec including Vice President and General Manager, Network Diagnostics Division and Vice President Product Line Management and Marketing in the company’s Network Signaling Division. Prior to joining Tekelec, Danny was with Nortel for 14 years where he held key executive management positions in Customer Service, Product Development, Product Verification and Product Line Management. Danny completed the Advanced Management Program at the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and holds a Masters of Business Administration degree from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.

Joe Cobbs

Founder, Director, Vice President, Strategic Marketing

Joe Cobbs has over 15 years of experience in the telecommunications industry with demonstrated success in all aspects of business development, sales and marketing. Joe is a Velleros founder and has served as a director and secretary of the Velleros Board since the company's formation in June, 2007. Joe also serves Velleros as Vice President, Strategic Marketing and in that role is responsible for the strategic marketing and commercial marketing efforts for the company. Joe is also a key contributor to channel sales development and management as well as for providing sales support on key direct sales accounts. Prior to joining Velleros, Joe worked in a variety of Sales and Marketing roles for GENBAND and Tekelec. While serving as Vice President of Sales for Tekelec, Joe's strong focus on new account development and penetration were instrumental to the company's success in regularly exceeding corporate sales objectives. While serving as Director of Business Development at Tekelec, Joe was specifically responsible for establishing new market penetration for Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Prior to joining Tekelec, Joe was with Ericsson, GE and IBM where he served in a variety of roles including: Product Line Management, Operations, Finance, and Engineering. Joe was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Bucknell University and a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Delaware.
