Danny Parker
Director, President & CEO
Danny Parker is a telecommunications industry veteran with over 25 years of executive management experience covering Corporate Strategy, Mergers and Acquisitions, General Management, Marketing, Product Line Management, Business Development, Product Development, New Product Introduction, Customer Service and Operations management. Danny has served as a director on the Velleros Board since November 2007 and joined the Velleros management team as President and Chief Executive Officer on July 1, 2008. Prior to joining Velleros Danny was with Tekelec for 14 years where he led Tekelec’s strategic planning, business development and merger and acquisition activities as the Chief Strategy and Corporate Development Officer since October, 2000. In that role Danny was also responsible for Tekelec’s investments in emerging technology based private companies, and served as Tekelec’s representative on the boards of those companies, including BroadSoft, Santera, Telica and GENBAND. Prior to that, Danny held a variety of other executive management positions at Tekelec including Vice President and General Manager, Network Diagnostics Division and Vice President Product Line Management and Marketing in the company’s Network Signaling Division. Prior to joining Tekelec, Danny was with Nortel for 14 years where he held key executive management positions in Customer Service, Product Development, Product Verification and Product Line Management. Danny completed the Advanced Management Program at the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and holds a Masters of Business Administration degree from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.
Taren Patterson
Founder, Vice President, Product Management
Taren Patterson has over 16 years experience in the telecommunications industry with special focus in customer facing roles in engineering, customer service and sales. Taren is a Velleros original founder and a co-architect of Velleros’ content delivery core platform technology. Taren serves as the company’s Vice President, Product Management and in that role is responsible for providing direct sales technical support and for maintaining a strong connection between the company’s product strategy and roadmap and its target market and customer requirements. Taren also works closely with the product development team to ensure that those requirements are well understood and met. Prior to founding Velleros, Taren served in several Sales and Sales Engineering roles at Tekelec and GENBAND, most recently as Regional Vice President of Sales for the Western United States. While at Tekelec, Taren was consistently recognized for the Presidents Club award, the highest level of sales achievement at the company. His many successes were primarily achieved by helping customers cost-effectively architect and implement next-generation technology solutions to support the growth of their businesses. While at Santera, Taren led domestic and international teams responsible for integrating soft-switches and media gateways into carrier networks. At Nortel, Taren was a Member of Scientific Staff and led several protocol certification initiatives throughout North America and Europe. Taren holds an Associate of Science degree in Telecommunications from Colby College.
Joe Cobbs
Founder, Director, Vice President, Strategic Marketing
Joe Cobbs has over 15 years of experience in the telecommunications industry with demonstrated success in all aspects of business development, sales and marketing. Joe is a Velleros founder and has served as a director and secretary of the Velleros Board since the company's formation in June, 2007. Joe also serves Velleros as Vice President, Strategic Marketing and in that role is responsible for the strategic marketing and commercial marketing efforts for the company. Joe is also a key contributor to channel sales development and management as well as for providing sales support on key direct sales accounts. Prior to joining Velleros, Joe worked in a variety of Sales and Marketing roles for GENBAND and Tekelec. While serving as Vice President of Sales for Tekelec, Joe's strong focus on new account development and penetration were instrumental to the company's success in regularly exceeding corporate sales objectives. While serving as Director of Business Development at Tekelec, Joe was specifically responsible for establishing new market penetration for Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Prior to joining Tekelec, Joe was with Ericsson, GE and IBM where he served in a variety of roles including: Product Line Management, Operations, Finance, and Engineering. Joe was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Bucknell University and a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Delaware.
David Peters
Vice President, Sales and Marketing
David Peters is a proven sales, marketing, and business development executive with over 15 years of leadership experience in the wireless and wireline telecommunications industries. David joined Velleros in December, 2008 and serves as Vice President, Marketing and Sales. Prior to joining Velleros, David spent the last 12 years serving the regional wireless and wireline carriers in the North America and Caribbean regions wherein he actively participates in several leading industry trade organizations. David has established himself as a well respected industry leader and has been twice nominated to sit on the board of directors of the Rural Cellular Association (RCA) where he has served as co-chair of the RCA Convention Committee for more than 8 years. David was recently recognized by RCA for his many contributions as he received the 2007 RCA Associate of the Year Award. Prior to joining Velleros, David served as Director, North American sales for Mavenir Systems’ value added services, SMSC’s, VoIP, Femtocell, and Voicemail solutions. David began his carrier sales career at BCGI, advancing to the position of Director, North American Sales for BCGI’s prepaid, post-paid, micro-debt, and banking/payment portfolio within the US, Canada, and the Caribbean. David holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and History graduating Cum Laude from Texas Christian University and a Master of Arts degree in Public Policy and Constitutional Law from Baylor University.
Neil Harrington
Vice President, Engineering
Neil Harrington is a seasoned telecommunications industry R&D leader with over 17 years experience in innovative product design, development and market launch. Neil joined Velleros in January, 2009 and serves as the company’s Vice President, Engineering and Customer Service. In that role Neil is responsible for building a high performance R&D and Customer Service team to drive the development of Velleros' best in class, carrier grade mass alerting and content delivery product portfolio. Prior to joining Velleros, Neil was at Nortel for 17 years where his unique blend of technical depth, exceptional people management skills and a sharp customer focus caused him to be repeatedly selected to build high performance teams and led key product development and market launch projects to address Nortel's strategic markets. While at Nortel Neil was responsible for the company’s product development programs for carrier grade VoATM and VoIP Gateways and most recently was responsible for developing Nortel's first video solution product portfolio including the launch of innovative multimedia communication services into the IPTV and Cable markets. Neil has one patent filed and holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from N.C. State University.
Zdenek Holy
Senior Vice President, Strategy and Business Development
Zdenek Holy is a telecommunications industry veteran with over thirty years of technology and business management experience gained through service at several world-class research and development companies within the industry. Zdenek initially served Velleros as a market research consultant during 2008 and has joined the company in the role of Senior Vice President, Strategy and Business development as of January 1, 2009. Prior to joining Velleros, Zdenek was founder and principal at IDI, Inc., a telecommunications industry consulting firm specializing in analysis of technologies and business potential for mergers and acquisitions. Prior to founding IDI, Zdenek served as Vice President, Global Strategy and Business Development at Tekelec where he was responsible for developing key business relationships with industry leading firms in Asia, Europe and South America. Prior to joining Tekelec, Zdenek served in key management positions leading multi-national product development teams in areas of hardware and software development, program, process and QA management first at Nortel Networks, then Fujitsu and Santera Systems. Zdenek holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada and a Master of Science degree in Network Communications from Czech Technical University in Prague and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Economics from Columbia State University in California.
